From darkness(es) into the light

Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the light. And those who disbelieve - their allies are Taghut. They take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein.

[Qur'aan 2:257]

The balaagha present in this Verse is in the fact that the word Al-Noor which means light  (النور)  is singular while the word darknesses (الظُّلُمَاتِ) is plural.

The reason for this is because Al-Noor represents the truth which is only one.

Darknesses represents misguidance which has many branches and forms.

Thus, Al-Noor is singular as is appropriate since the concept it alludes to is singular while darknesses is plural since the concept it alludes to has many branches and forms.
